About Sunset Maple Poodles

Where It All Began

Sunset Maple Poodles – How we began.

For as long as I can remember I have loved dogs.  My best friend remembers us sitting on the swing set in grade school and me telling her I wanted to raise dogs.  At that time I do not think I knew what a poodle was, but I already appreciated the unconditional love dogs gave.

By the time I was married I had a wonderful black miniature poodle and I was the love of his life.  My husband decided we needed to have a second poodle, so he could have his own dog that loved him unconditionally.  And so our multi- poodle household began over 30 years ago.
I want my poodles to be healthy, loving members of our family for as long as possible.  Losing them or even watching them get sick is heartbreaking.  With this in mind I began reading about canine health.  Breeders have learned a lot in 30 years.  There are health issues associated with dog foods and vaccines.  There are genetic tests available to help us eliminate horrible diseases from our canine friends.  By testing the adults and only breeding those that do not carry the genes for these diseases this enables Sunset Maple Poodles to provide healthier puppies for families to love longer.

The puppy has a light blue ribbon around its neck and looks curiously at the camera with big, expressive eyes. The background is softly blurred, emphasizing the puppy and the colorful leaves.
